Dr M. B. Puranik, who retired as a Professor in Botany in 2004, is a distinguished figure in the field of education. He stands as the visionary force behind the transformation and expansion of Sharada Educational Institutions. Under his leadership and guidance, this Group of Institutions flourished and evolved into a comprehensive educational centre with ten institutions spread across four campuses catering to more than 10,000 students. Furthermore, his deep-rooted faith in the Indian Knowledge System of holistic well-being propelled him to build and develop the Ayurveda and Yoga & Naturopathy hospitals and Medical Colleges. The expansion in higher education also includes a Degree college for careers in Commerce, Computer Science, Animation, etc.,
Dr. M.B. Puranik is also a recipient of the prestigious 2010 "Karnataka Rajyotsava Puraskar.” He achieved the remarkable milestone of being conferred an honorary doctorate in 2023 by Mangalore University, a testament to his outstanding contributions in the field of education. Widely regarded as an idealistic, principled, and assiduous individual, Dr M.B. Puranik played a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of the Sharada Group of Institutions.
